I had never been more alone than at the top of those steps, yet my inner sense was one of total contentment. I turned to marvel at the view from my new home - a vast expanse of lush grass surrounded on all sides by buildings with matching red tile roofs and resplendent sandstone bricks. To my left was the arresting sight of the Rocky Mountain foothills. Their countless peaks were glowing orange from the intense rays of the late-August sun, providing stark contrast to the deep blue sky. The air was bubbling with the aroma of pine trees, while the only sound to be heard was the playful warble of finches in their branches.

其实学英语时把你的判断, 分析，推理等成年人学东西的本能都turn off, 坦然地接受传教予你的知识，学起来并不难。举个例子，去年暑假我老公的妹妹和她的女儿来我们家玩了7周。我们带她们去曼哈顿游玩时，走在中央公园东侧的 sidewalk上。走着走着我看到对面有一群人迎面走来，我就把外甥女一把拉向我这边。等我们再继续走时，我问她，“我刚才拉你的那个动作用英文怎么说？” 她回答不知道。我就说，“很简单，就是pull。” 然后我俩就一边走，我一边做各种动作，问她各个动作的英文表示，她不会的我就告诉她。
想象现在我和你在一起学习，我做出以下动作，你想想用哪个英文动词比较准确。如果能现场示范，你的的印象会更深。没办法，凑合着学吧。
一，打这个动作
hit 不容许我打学生 --- 就一个范范表达打这个动作，是个比较用力的动作，通常是用手或物体打，比如棍棒等。
I am not allowed to hit my students.
punch 她一拳打在你肚子上 --- 想象她一拳重重地砸你在的肚子上，打的力量比较大。
She was so mad at you that she punched you in the stomach.
beat 我揍了你 --- 是个表达连续用力重打的动作。
I didn't mean I wanted to beat you. I was just doing the demo.
The homeless was beaten to unconscious.
tap 我轻轻的拍了拍你的手背，“做的不错！” --- 动作很轻，通常连续做几次。
I tapped you on the back of your hand. "Good job!"
slap 她搧了他一耳光 --- 是个用整个手掌或平面的东西搧，打的动作比较重，最经典的表达就是扇耳光的动作。
She slapped his face.
二，拉这个动作
pull 我把一把椅子拉向到我桌子傍 --- 这个动作通常要用点力的。
I pulled a chair to my desk.
drag 我把一个笨重的大木箱子拉到了门口 --- 被拉的人或物体比较重且大，并且是沿着一个平面被拉着走，拉的时候需要力气。
I dragged a heavy box to the door.
The mom dragged the crying child away from the toy store.
tug 我拽了你的胳膊一下，让你快点跟着我走 --- 是个快而用力的动作。
I tugged at your arm. "Come! Let's go."
draw 妈妈把儿子向家里拉 --- 也是个拉的动作，但这个拉的动作的方向性很强，有个特定的方向，尤指向着某人某物来来，或背离某人某物拉走。
The mom drew the child toward the daycare.
yank 她突然地用力拽了他一下，“别说。保密！” --- 这个动作同tug相似，但更突然，短暂，迅速。
She yanked at his arm, "Don't tell them. Keep it secret!"
